A Nail Technician applies a variety of cosmetic treatments to the finger nails of customers.
Typical Job Activities
Provides standard manicures
Extends the nails with acrylic or gel, fibreglass or silk wraps
Massages oils into the cuticles of each nail and cut, file and shape each nail into the desired style
Applies nail polish in the colours the client chooses
Some technicians specialise in particular treatments, such as nail art which involves decorating each finished nail with elaborate patterns and colours
Nail technicians may advise on maintenance and care routine for the nails
