Craftsmanship is a diverse field involving the use of tools to produce goods. A Craftsman performs skilled trade duties in the operation, maintenance, and repair of buildings and related facilities and systems; perform related work.
Typical Job Activities
Performs
skilled carpentry work in the maintenance, repair, construction, alteration,
forming, framing, and finishing of District buildings and facilities
Constructs, installs, maintains and repairs woodwork
Interprets, explains and applies building codes, rules and regulations involved
in assigned maintenance activities
Effectively and safely operates a variety of tools and equipment used in the
skilled carpentry trade
Interprets shop drawings, sketches and work orders
Uses painting tools and equipment commonly used in the professional painting
business
Analyses situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
Observes legal and defensive driving techniques
Maintains records and submit in a timely manner
Reads blue prints
Performs heavy physical labour
Plans, organises and schedules work
Performs duties effectively, timely, and without supervision
Understands and follows oral and written directions
Communicates effectively both orally and in writing
Establishes and maintains cooperative and effective working relationships with
others
