Description

The main responsibility of a Tour Consultant is to provide travel information and answers enquiries by tourists. The also assist with database management, creating itineraries, handling of bookings and travel documentation.

Typical Job Activities

Encourages people to spend time and money in a particular area by promoting local facilities
Works at an information centre handing out leaflets, maps, etc
Advises on places of interest and travel routes
Makes reservations for sightseeing tours, sporting events, theatre trips, etc.
Arranges hotel and bed and breakfast accommodation locally, liaises with other centres to book accommodation further afield
Answers telephone and written enquiries, sell goods, e.g. maps, guidebooks and souvenirs
Gathers information that will be useful to tourists to the area and keep publicity information up to date
