1. Construction manager

As a construction manager you’ll be expected to oversee the entire project on a construction site. Your responsibilities will include planning, budgeting and overseeing the team on a project. You’ll have to study for a degree in construction, engineering or architecture.

2. Cost Estimator

Cost estimators are extremely important as they work closely with engineers and construction managers to determine what the monetary requirements are for a project. If you’re great with numbers and are a critical thinker, you’d do well in this position.

3. Glazier

Unsure about what a glazier does? Many are. Basically these are the people who are responsible for the cutting and installing of the glasswork on buildings.

4. Plumber

Being a plumber is a great idea. Not only are they needed on every construction site, you’re also able to work for yourself later down the line once you acquire a solid client base. You’ll be responsible for the installation, inspection, and repair of pipes, fixtures – anything that carries water, steam or gas.

5. Structural Iron and Steelworker

If you’re afraid of heights, don’t even consider this as a career choice. As a structural iron and steelworker you’ll be responsible for raising beams, girders and columns. 

6. Painter

This is another popular career as you’ll be able to start your own business with your skills and make extra money. Make no mistake; this is a career that requires a recognisable apprenticeship and a specific amount of hours in to be a fully qualified painter. You’ll have to know your paints and how they interact with various textures and surfaces. 

7. Electrician

Electricians are involved with installing, maintaining and repairing electricals. Every construction site needs a reliable electrician with trusted qualifications.
