Gauteng is made up of six regions that amalgamate to a dynamic province, with a vibrant mix of energy and diversity.

Gauteng, (Sotho for the place of gold), is considered South Africa’s main commercial hub. Its energy and fast-pace are tangible from the moment you enter. Situated on the country’s Highveld, Gauteng stretches all the way from Pretoria in the north, to Vereeniging in the south. While it may be the smallest province in the country, it serves as the gateway to Africa – offering tourists and locals alike, historical and cultural attractions that are distinctly African.

The province of Gauteng is the economic powerhouse of the country, accounting for a third of South Africa’s gross domestic product. The province’s three metropolitan municipalities – the cities of Johannesburg, Tshwane (previously known as Pretoria) and Ekurhuleni (East Rand) – come together to build a competitive city-region, both locally and internationally.
