Soweto is a very well-known tourist destination of the province. Not only did Soweto play an immense role in the struggle for freedom from oppression, but the township also boasts a unique cultural experience. Visitors to the largest township in South Africa can visit the Hector Pieterson Museum for a historical lesson on the 1976 Soweto Uprising.
