Applies accounting and costing principles, methods and techniques, as well as economic principles to determine costs and analyse savings/excesses compared with previous experience or with budgets
Management requires an update of this information at regular pre-determined intervals
Compilling the information also entails examining factors such as the under-utilisation of a plant, low productivity and the cost of holding excessive materials or stocks
Provides management with analyses and figures that will enable them to make forecasts regarding the profitability of new products, developments and expansions
