Description
A Junior Data Analyst translates numbers into plain English. Every business collects data, whether it's sales figures, market research, logistics, or transportation costs. A data analyst's job is to take that data and use it to help companies make better business decisions. This could mean figuring out how to price new materials for the market, how to reduce transportation costs, solve issues that cost the company money, or determine how many people should be working on Saturdays.
There are many different types of data analysts in the field, including operations analysts, marketing analysts, financial analysts, etc.
Typical Job Activities
Interprets
data, analyses results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
Develops and implements databases, data collection systems, data analytics and
other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
Acquires data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain
databases/data systems
Identifies, analyses, and interprets trends or patterns in complex data sets
Filters and “cleans” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and
performance indicators to locate and correct code problems
Works with management to prioritize business and information needs
Locates and defines new process improvement opportunities

Senior Certificate with matric
exemption
An appropriate B-Degree with Information Management, Computer Science, Statistics
or Mathematical Statistics as major subjects
High level teaching and research require a post-graduate qualification in
