4 things you must know the night before the interview

Do everything you need to ensure you're feeling energised the day of your interview (Stocksnap.io)

The secret to a great interview is preparation. Here are a few things you can do the night before to ensure your interview runs smoothly.

A successful interview starts before the big day arrives. In fact, you should be doing your homework the minute you receive your interview appointment. The night before should be spent polishing your questions and answers, perfecting your outfit and getting enough sleep to focus on what’s important the next day – acing your interview. Here are a few tips to ensure the day runs smoothly.

Feed your body the right stuff
You should feel energised and ready to take on the world on the day of your interview, not sluggish and sleepy. That’s why it’s important to eat the right foods the night before your interview; choose healthy and wholesome meals that you know are good for your body. Avoid caffeine-rich beverages and food that contains excessive amounts of garlic.  A good breakfast the morning of your interview is a great idea; it’ll help you stay focused and allow you to concentrate during the interview.

Go to the route
Familiarise yourself with the directions or better yet, drive to the company the night before. Also make sure your timing is perfect – ideally you should get there at least 20 minutes before the time to allow yourself to pop into the restroom and freshen up.

Positivity is everything (almost)
Try to do everything you can to ensure, that when you wake up in the morning, you’ll feel nothing less than bright eyed and bushy tailed. Any form of negativity the night before will harm your chances of being the eternal optimist on the day of your interview.

Give yourself permission to do nothing
After your outfit has been set out, kick your feet up and relax. Take the time to reflect on your questions, answers and body language – remember, eye contact is very important. It shows the interviewer you’re focused and confident. Also, visualise your interview from start to finish; it’ll put your nerves at ease and give you the confidence to pass with flying colours.
